Search Parts
How to find datasheets and add them to a submittal package.
Searching is built into the Build a submittal package page, so you don't need to leave it to find parts and add them to your package.
Search the catalog
- Open the Submittal Generator (select Materials Submittals from the main navigation).
- In the Search Parts Catalog field, enter a part number, product family, or manufacturer name.
- You need at least 3 characters before results appear.
Results appear under Results. If your organization has custom datasheets that match your search, they're listed separately under Your Custom Datasheets, above the standard catalog matches under Standard Datasheets.
Each result row shows:
- Manufacturer
- Model
- Part # (or Applies to Entire Model if the datasheet isn't limited to specific part numbers)
- Description
- Category
View or add a result
Each row has two actions:
- View: opens the datasheet in a new tab for viewing.
- Add: adds the file to your submittal package.
Added files appear in the Selected Files panel on the right side of the page, where you can reorder them and build your package.
No results found
If nothing matches your search, Caident shows No matching parts or documents found. From there you can:
- Select Custom Datasheets to add your own datasheet to your organization's library, so it can be included in submittal packages.
- Select Request Feature to send feedback about the part or document you were looking for.
