Product Access

How to grant or revoke a team member's seats for your organization's seat-based tools.

Caident products reach your team in one of two ways. Some are activated with a license key on a device rather than being tied to a person; this is how CaidentCalc's older activation flow still works, and it's managed on the CaidentCalc Licenses page. Others are licensed by seat, where you decide who on your team can use them. Product Access is where you manage that second kind.

Why some tools allow more than one seat

For most seat-based tools, a seat works as a simple on/off switch for a person: they either have access or they don't. A few tools, however, such as Caident Design, tie each seat to a device (see Devices). If someone on your team regularly switches between, for example, a work laptop and a home desktop, a single seat would require them to unregister one device each time they switch to the other. Granting a second seat allows both devices to stay registered at once, without that back and forth.

Grant or revoke a seat

  1. Go to Team & Access (in the sidebar, under Account).
  2. Find the person you want to manage and select Manage Access on their row.
  3. In the Product Access panel, you'll see every seat-based tool your organization subscribes to, along with how many seats that person currently holds.
  4. Use the + and − buttons to add or remove a seat. Changes save automatically, so there's no separate save step.
  5. Select Done when you're finished.

For most tools, once a person has a seat, + is disabled, since one seat is all they need. For device-based tools, you can continue granting seats up to however many your organization has available.

If your organization doesn't have any seat-based subscriptions, this panel will note that those tools use license keys instead and are managed on the CaidentCalc Licenses page.

CaidentCalc licenses and seats

For CaidentCalc, active license keys also count toward your organization's CaidentCalc seats. That means the seat total on the Team page includes both:

  • seats you assign to people in Product Access, and
  • active CaidentCalc license keys owned by members of the organization

You may see a CaidentCalc seat in use with no team member listed for it. That usually means someone is using an active license key — check CaidentCalc Licenses.
